Crafting a Dynamic Wellness Vision: Inspiring Possibility in Myself and Others

This week, I rejoined “Real Appeal,” a program that helped me with my wellness journey in 2019. If you’re curious about my past journey, I wrote about it weekly on my old blog: https://kimruns.blogspot.com/p/invest-in-myself.html.

Now it’s 2024. Between the societal impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic; the health effects of menopause, hallux rigidus, and a macular pucker in my left eye; and an ongoing tendency to overextend myself, my wellness journey has been lacking the direction of a North Star.

To find my path, I spent some time this weekend exploring the Real Appeal Wellness Vision questions, which are designed to help you create “an empowering statement about who you are and what you want to accomplish. It describes the best version of yourself and how you envision your desired health and wellness.”

This was a helpful process for me, especially as I realized that a wellness vision is dynamic, and I need to meet myself where I am today. I’ve been stuck with a static wellness vision, unable to completely let go of my past identity when I was a social runner without arthritis and vertical double vision. I am different than I was 5 years ago, and that’s okay.

Here’s my wellness vision (at least for today):

I am creating space to inspire possibility in myself and others by connecting with health, harmony, and happiness. I do this by prioritizing:

  • playful movement
  • nourishing food
  • restorative sleep
  • creative community exploration
